Exploiting a space advantage is not always easy. The main advantage of having more space is that you will be able to maneuver your pieces a lot quicker than your opponent, that's where your advantage really is.

Thus, a common way to exploit a space advantage is to attack on one side of the board, forcing your opponent to shift his pieces there, and then quickly maneuver your pieces to hit on the other side.
